Vietravel Airlines is about to change its name after T&T took over

According to a representative of Vietravel Airlines, the business is still in the process of comprehensive restructuring in terms of ownership and operation, in which renaming is determined to be the next step. “This is expected to be done in the early second quarter of 2026,” the company representative said.

Previously, T&T Group and its member companies became strategic shareholders in Vietravel Airlines from the end of 2024. By November 2025, Vietravel’s Board of Directors approved the divestment of all capital contributions in this airline to focus on the core business (tourism and travel). At the same time, this business also terminated the right to use the “Vietravel” brand with the airline owned by T&T.

To date, Vietravel Airlines has not yet announced a new brand name. However, the airline said this year it aims to increase its fleet to at least 10 aircraft. Along with that, they will also expand the domestic flight network. With its international flight network, Vietravel Airlines is researching to exploit routes to Northeast Asia.

This airline currently operates 4 Airbus narrow-body aircraft. Vietravel Airlines is focusing on operating routes on the Hanoi – Da Nang – Ho Chi Minh City and Ho Chi Minh City – Phu Quoc routes. The airline has an international route from Ho Chi Minh City – Bangkok (Thailand). From the beginning of February, the airline will operate more routes from Ho Chi Minh City – Vinh and increase the frequency of operations on domestic routes to serve the upcoming Tet peak demand.

After the participation of T&T, this airline changed its strategy from leasing ships to buying aircraft. Vietravel Airlines received the Airbus A321 under its ownership at the end of June 2025. Recently, this business also moved its headquarters from Ho Chi Minh City to Hanoi.

Currently, there is still information on the market that Asia’s leading low-cost airline AirAsia is negotiating to buy shares in Vietravel Airlines. Late last year, Tony Fernandes, General Director of Capital A – AirAisa’s parent company, also confirmed that he was discussing with a partner in Vietnam to expand its presence in Southeast Asia. Fernandes said the negotiation process was positive and he felt “more optimistic than ever”. AirAsia tried to enter Vietnam’s domestic market four times, but all failed.

Previously, representatives of T&T Group and Capital A also worked with leaders of Quang Tri Provincial People’s Committee. At the meeting, two businesses proposed investing in an aviation industrial complex and airport urban complex in this locality.
