Technology shares fall on Wall Street – Nvidia slips 2.6 percent

The US stock market opened lower on Tuesday. President Donald Trump’s customs threats and comments about Denmark’s Greenland have put investors on their toes.

The S&P 500, which tracks the price development of shares of five hundred US companies, was down 1.0 percent at around 18:00. The index was pulled down especially by companies linked to discretionary consumption and the technology sector.

For example, a processor designer Nvidia’s the share was down 2.6 percent. Applied Materials the share was 2.5 percent and Qualcomm share down 2.2 percent.

Nvidia is the world’s most valuable company in terms of market value, with a market value of more than 4,000 billion dollars. Technology companies follow Nvidia Alphabet, Apple, Microsoft and Amazonall of whose shares were down on Wall Street.

Alphabet was down 1.2 percent, Apple was down 1.4 percent, Microsoft was down 1.1 percent and Amazon was down 1.9 percent.
