CEO Yeah1: Need more time to see YEG stock ‘continuously purple’

On January 20, Yeah1 Group (YEG) launched the joint venture SYE – a music publishing and artist management company in which they and Sony Music contribute capital. They also introduced the new 7-member boy band UPRIZE following the K-pop standard training model, along with the first 4 independent artists.

Ms. Ngo Thi Van Hanh – CEO of Yeah1 Group – said that it is difficult for a business strategy to be immediately reflected in stock prices in the short term. She said it’s important to create trust among investors, mass audiences and the fan community of new artists.

“When receiving support and trust, the company’s value is affirmed and one day Yeah1’s stock price will be ‘continuously purple,'” Ms. Hanh told VnExpress.

With the launch of the music group and exclusive artists, Yeah1 plans to devote a lot of resources to artist training, perfecting the operating system and producing music products. In addition to the domestic team, they also invited Korean experts to participate in the music making process.

By joining hands with Sony Music – one of the three “giants” dominating the global music industry, Yeah1 expects to supplement its financial potential, production capacity and technology.

Putting a lot of resources into UPRIZE could create a new cost burden for Yeah1 – a business that has recovered in just over 2 years after the YouTube incident. This requires rookies to both make their mark musically and achieve commercial success.

Mr. Ryu.D – CEO of HiDirectors Entertainment Company and an expert in SYE’s product development team – admitted that investing in the music group model, even in Korea, is considered a “gamble” because it is difficult for anyone to answer the question of which music group will be successful in the future or the exact time to shine. Only about 10-20% of music groups successfully debut, and this percentage is even lower for groups that achieve big commercial hits. Even for large companies, the time to reach break-even point takes up to 3-5 years.

Therefore, instead of just focusing on short-term profits or the immediate risks of this “bet”, he believes that priority should be given to considering future potential. Experts believe that the probability of success will be higher if the group is carefully prepared.

Yeah1 has experience organizing many concert nights before, with a scale of 20,000-50,000 spectators. With the new group, they only set a target of 10,000 people, but Ms. Van Hanh said that this is the “dream number” of many artists and YEG itself.

Although the scale is smaller, she believes that the profitability is still not lower than previous concerts because at this time, investment costs can be reduced at a corresponding rate. Business leaders believe this will be a risk-free investment.
