The unions are opposing the austerity measures that the Walloon government has imposed on the Opérateur de Transport de Wallonie (OTW), the umbrella organization of TEC. A strike notice was previously issued that covers actions from Monday. Now the unions announced that there will be actions throughout the working week. Moreover, additional actions could follow afterwards, as the notice is for an indefinite period.
TEC warns of “heavy disruption” on its network of buses, trams and metros. The company calls on travelers to look for alternatives.
The five-day industrial action coincides with a strike on the railways. The unions at railway company NMBS and rail network operator Infrabel will take action from Monday to Friday against, among other things, the end of permanent appointments at the rail companies from mid-2026, and against a change in the rules for social dialogue.
