Third suspect (23) arrested for attempted murder after stabbing at Kurdish demonstration in Antwerp

According to a witness, the man managed to flee again to another bus, where the driver was able to close the doors just in time to keep the attackers out. The victim is taken to hospital with serious injuries. Whether he was a demonstrator or someone who had joined the crowd as an attacker is currently unknown.

In images of the attack that The Latest News was sent, you can see how the angry crowd managed to steal a Syrian flag from him and took out their frustrations on that flag.

The police opened an investigation and, partly based on video images, spotted a suspect. He was arrested at the end of this week and brought before the investigating judge on Sunday. “The 23-year-old was arrested under electronic surveillance on suspicion of attempted murder,” spokesperson Lieselotte Claessens confirms. “The man will appear before the council chamber in the course of next week.”

Two suspects were also arrested on Saturday for the same qualification. One of them is a man of Kurdish descent, the other is an 18-year-old.
