The government has approved a proposal by Settlement Minister Orit Struk and Construction Minister Chaim Katz to create five new community settlements (yishuv keilati) in the eastern part of the Be’er Sheva metropolitan area, along highways 25 and 80.

The Ministry of Construction stressed in a statement that this is a project of paramount importance, combining the civil settlement of the Negev with the development of significant land reserves, creating conditions for long-term demographic growth and responding to growing demand for housing.
