The government will extend work permits for foreign construction workers who have worked for five years

The decision was made at the insistence of the Association of Construction Contractors and the Association of Recruitment Agencies for Foreign Workers.

To enter into force, the decision requires the signature of the Minister of the Interior.

In total, approximately 3,000 foreign construction workers’ work visas have expired. It should be noted that this is the second extension of visas, as they were originally supposed to leave the country by the end of December 2025.

The current quota for foreign construction workers in Israel is 110 thousand people. The quota was sharply increased following the ban on hiring workers from the Palestinian Authority following the October 7, 2023 massacre and the subsequent War of the Iron Swords. For two years, the construction industry has not been able to fill the entire quota – currently about 75 thousand foreign workers are employed in the country.
