President Trump signs legislation ending federal government shutdown

The bill was previously approved by the House of Representatives. 217 congressmen spoke in support of it, 214 were against it. The Senate approved it on January 30 – 71 senators voted for it, 29 against it.

The budget allocation is $1.2 trillion. The law will allow the government to function until September 30, when the current fiscal year ends.

The issue of funding the Homeland Security Agency, which includes the Federal Immigration Service, remains unresolved. Democrats are pushing to reform the department. Funding for the agency will continue until February 13, during which time congressmen must find a compromise.
