On behalf of Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, the government will next Sunday consider a decree on the construction of an international airport in Ziklag in the Negev. This decision was made following a meeting between Netanyahu and Transport Minister Miri Regev, Deputy Minister Almog Cohen, acting the director general of the ministry of the head of government and senior officials from the ministries of finance, transport and defense.
The Prime Minister’s Office notes that in the context of constant growth in passenger traffic, the creation of an additional international airport is a national necessity. The project is expected to create thousands of jobs, strengthen the regional economy and form part of the government’s strategy to reduce the gap between the center and the periphery.
