Wärtsilä sells its business

Engine manufacturer Wärtsilä sells its unit specialized in ship water and waste management to a Swedish investment company Solix Groupille.

Wärtsilä calls the unit Water & Waste.

The unit’s turnover last year was 54 million euros, or 0.8 percent of Wärtsilä’s entire turnover of 6,914 million euros last year.

Wärtsilä’s announcement does not state the purchase price. According to Wärtsilä’s communications, the purchase price will not be disclosed. According to the release, the transaction is expected to be completed during the third quarter of 2026.

Wärtsilä divides its business into different areas. The unit to be sold is reported to portfolio businesses, which consisted of independently managed businesses.

At the end of 2024, those businesses included Automation, Navigation & Control Systems, Gas Solutions, Marine Electrical Systems and Water & Waste.

After the recent sale, Wärtsilä has sold all the units. In 2024, the units brought in a total of EUR 706 million in turnover, while Wärtsilä’s total turnover was EUR 6,449 million.
