The AICM remained the third most punctual airport in the world in 2025

For the second consecutive year, the Benito Juárez International Airport of Mexico City (AICM) was recognized by Cirium, a leading company in aeronautical data analysis, with third place in the world in punctuality in the category of large airports, by achieving that the majority of its flights departed on time in its two terminals.

At the Exhibition Center in terminal 2, Jeremy Bowen, executive director of Cirium, explained that the AICM obtained a punctuality of 86.55 percent, improving the result of 2024, when it reached the same position, but with a record of 84.04 percent.

The Mexican terminal, run by the Ministry of the Navy, was located behind the international airports Arturo Merino Benítez, in Santiago de Chile, and Rey Khalid, in Saudi Arabia, detailed Bowen, who presented the recognition for punctuality to Admiral José Barradas Cobos, undersecretary of the Navy.

The consolidation of the AICM as one of the most punctual airports in 2025 was possible thanks to the reorganization of slots and its strict compliance, as well as the coordinated work of the community, which involves airlines, service providers, air traffic control, authorities and the airport administration.

Since the Secretary of the Navy assumed management of the AICM in 2022, flight punctuality rates have improved.

Barradas Cobos maintained that “this progress reflects a constant effort to optimize processes, strengthen operational coordination and raise service standards, even in an environment of high demand and complexity.”

He indicated that these results consolidate the AICM as “one of the most punctual air terminals in the region, positioning it as a benchmark for the airport system of Mexico and Latin America.”

Bowen highlighted AICM’s rapid progress in punctuality. “In 2022, the performance indicator was 76.01 percent, ranking 29th worldwide; in 2023 it increased to 79.42 percent, rising nine positions. In 2024 it reached 84.04 percent, ranking third, which it repeated in 2025. This is an incredible success story.”
