Another effective prison sentence for woman who had defrauded a family with sick children

They came into contact with ES through the petting zoo in Bever. That woman offered to help with the administrative burden. For example, she took over the management of the healthcare budget. However, she abused the trust she received.

For example, she informed the father of the family what payments he supposedly had to make for, among other things, social security contributions and group insurance, but she also passed on the numbers of accounts that she had opened herself. A total of 66,000 euros from the healthcare budget and 12,000 euros from the family’s savings account were paid into her accounts.

Recidivist

It was not until 2024 that the family became suspicious and went to court. The Halle-Vilvoorde public prosecutor’s office took ES to court, but the woman, who was sentenced to a year in prison in 2021 for cheating an elderly couple of 75,000 euros, first failed to do so. After resisting, she has now been sentenced again to an effective prison sentence.
