Netanyahu announced that the government will consider creating a new airport in the Negev

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said at the start of Sunday’s government meeting that the cabinet would submit for approval a decision on the creation of an additional international airport.

We are talking about a new airport that is planned to be built in the Negev – in the Ziklag region.

According to Netanyahu, the new airport will be a “powerful lever for the development of the Negev” – creating jobs, increasing transport accessibility and tourism, and boosting related infrastructure, including roads, railways and related business sectors.

Netanyahu stressed that the project is part of a strategy to develop the periphery and repopulate the Negev, combining public investment in infrastructure and private initiative.

In parallel, according to the prime minister, the creation of an additional airport in the north of the country, in Ramat David, is being promoted. Netanyahu noted that this is the only way to meet the growing demand for air travel and tourism, as well as the needs of Israeli citizens.

The head of government thanked Transport Minister Miri Regev, Finance Minister Bezalel Smotrich and MP Almog Cohen for helping to promote the project.
