Van den Bergh also had to regain his good form of old during the third Players Championship in Wigan. He competed against the 46-year-old Czech Karel Sedlacek (65th in the world rankings). Van den Bergh could not win a single leg against the Czech. Even more: Van den Bergh was only allowed to aim two arrows at the doubles throughout the game. Thus the match ended 6-0. After the tournament, Van den Bergh posted a message on his social media in which he thanked the fans for their support.

The 31-year-old Antwerp resident writes that he gains strength from the fact that he is trying to get back to his level and the support he receives from all over the world.

The DreamMaker previously spoke openly about the fun he currently misses in the sport. “It’s not in the arrows, not in the training. It’s purely mental. It’s tough to keep competing among the best of the best. I don’t really know myself at the moment either. And if you don’t know it anymore, you have to call in help. Professional people. That’s what I’m working on.”

There was also no success for the other Belgians who took part in the floor tournament. Mike De Decker lost 6-3 to Joe Hunt (103). Kim Huybrechts lost with a similar score to Dirk van Duijvenbode (29). Luke Humphries (2) defeated Stefaan Henderyck 6-2 and Mario Van den Bogaerde also lost 6-4 to Tom Bissell (80).

The fourth Players Championship is scheduled for tomorrow in Wigan.
