Analysts predict more strength for the peso

Given the resilience that the Mexican currency has shown in the face of the current global tension, an improvement in risk bets could lead it to trade even closer to 17 pesos per dollar, especially in an environment where a weakening of the dollar is anticipated, specialists predict.

The Mexican currency appreciated for the second consecutive week, closing on Friday at 17.1443 units per dollar spota level not seen since May 2024. However, the probability of further appreciation of the peso decreased during the last week. Net speculative positions waiting for an appreciation of the peso in the Chicago futures market showed a decrease of 5,600 contracts, equivalent to a weekly decrease of 6.18 percent.

Gross speculative positions in favor of the peso decreased from 90,600 to 85,000 contracts, something not seen since the beginning of December 2025.

While it is true that the strength of the Mexican peso is attributed to economic factors such as international reserves and a decrease in tensions with the United States, the weakness of the dollar also plays a role.
