Rivierenhof organizes a walk about the Jesuits in the park

The walk reflects on the question of who exactly the Jesuits were and how their presence was translated into architecture, garden design and education. The link is also made with the nearby Xaverius College, which stems from the same tradition. Whether there is a connection with the construction of the Rose Garden is also discussed.

A more recent figure in that story is Luc Versteylen, the Antwerp Jesuit who became known as the inspirer of the green movement Anders Gaan Leven, which gave rise to the political party Agalev, the predecessor of the current Green party. He played a role in the later history of the domain.
