For the first time: components for German submarines will be produced in Israel

Company TKMS (Thiessenkrup marine systems) German and company Elbit A new production line was inaugurated in Israel for the production of underwater structural components for submarines. As part of the collaboration, Elbit will build a new production facility for underwater GRP (glass fiber reinforced polyester) components for submarines.

The companies inaugurated yesterday (Tuesday) a new production facility in the north of the country, intended for the production of underwater GRP components for submarines. The facility is another step in deepening the relationship between the two companies, and is part of the TKMS collaborations under the umbrella of mutual procurement in Israel.

The establishment of the facility is a significant milestone in the development and expansion of the Israeli defense production base. The plant, which is located in a national priority area, is expected to employ dozens of workers in the first stage, while the entire move is carried out within the framework of an industrial agreement between the companies, under which new production facilities will be established and advanced technologies will be developed based on the knowledge and experience of TKMS.

The agreement allows Elbit’s subsidiary company, “Elbit Cyclone”, which specializes in the design, development and production of aviation structures for the civilian and military market, to expand its product portfolio, market them in new international markets and establish local expertise in the production of advanced underwater components – a field that has not been produced in Israel until now.

Additional contracts in the hundreds of millions of dollars

Earlier today (Wednesday) Elbit announced that it won contracts totaling approximately 277 million dollars from an international client for the supply of 30 mm turrets and armaments. The contracts will be executed for a period of three years.

The UT30 MK2 is a manned or unmanned turret, modular and with an open architecture, which increases the firepower of APCs (APCs) without compromising the safety of the combatants. Its modular design and its open architecture allow easy conversion between manned and unmanned formations as well as the integration of a variety of missiles and observation systems.

With an extremely low profile, the UT30 MK2 combines a variety of weapon systems, including a 30mm main cannon, a parallel 7.62mm machine gun and anti-tank missiles.

Yesterday, the company also announced that it had won several contracts totaling approximately $435 million from an international client. As part of the contracts, the company will provide a variety of advanced systems, including land systems, and will also carry out a development project for an innovative defense solution. The contracts will be executed over a period of six years.
