Agreement signed to relocate 11 IDF bases from high-demand areas

The Ministry of Defense, the Ministry of Finance and the Israel Land Authority have signed an agreement to move 11 IDF bases from urban areas and high-demand areas in the center of the country.

The following will be transferred: the base of military colleges in Glilot (will be transferred to Jerusalem); maintenance and repair bases in Tzrifin, Tel Hashomer and Haifa; Dotan Recruit Training Base (Base 80); part of the headquarters of the Logistics Command at the Rehavam base; Tira logistics base in Tirat HaCarmel; the remaining parts of the Tsrifin complex are a unit of the Communications Directorate, a regional medical center, a commander training base for young fighter courses, a command school, and an Air Force unit.

The total area of ​​the 11 bases is about 2,300 dunams. According to the ministries, the liberation of the bases will allow the construction of about 19 thousand residential units, about a million square meters. m of industrial and business space and about 1000 hotel rooms.

In addition, an agreement was reached to create a joint headquarters of the Ministry of Defense and the IDF to study the possibility of moving the HaQiriya General Staff base from Tel Aviv.
