Local authorities will be allocated a budget to provide assistance to residents of affected houses

On Sunday, March 1, the government approved Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s proposal to immediately allocate local authorities through the Ministry of Internal Affairs a budget to provide emergency assistance to citizens whose homes were directly damaged during the fighting as part of Operation Roar of the Lion.

Assistance will be provided to each resident of a damaged and declared uninhabitable house and will amount to 2 thousand shekels per person:

• 1,500 shekels – a one-time payment for each person living in a given property to finance the costs of local authorities to provide immediate assistance to residents.

• 500 shekels – a one-time payment for each resident of a given property, which local authorities will promptly transfer directly to residents to cover their immediate needs.

This budget complements an existing support package that includes funding for local governments and the Internal Revenue Service’s Direct War Compensation Fund.

Residents whose homes or property have been damaged should report the damage to the IRS hotline or submit an online claim on the agency’s website.

Responsibility for evacuation lies with local authorities and the property tax department of the Internal Revenue Service.
