Return to Israel via Egypt: who flies

Due to the complete closure of Israeli airspace, the only way to leave or return to the country is by sea or through land border crossings from Egypt or Jordan.

The main route connecting Israel with the world was the airport in Taba on the Sinai Peninsula near the Egyptian-Israeli border.

Arkia Airlines will operate flights to and from Taba from Larnaca, Athens, Sofia and Rome from Wednesday 4 March. You can order on the company’s website.

Israair will operate flights to Taba from Prague, Budapest, Sofia, Rovaniemi, Bergamo, Tbilisi and Grenoble starting Tuesday, March 3. At the first stage, tickets will not be available for public sale. They are intended for company passengers whose flights have been cancelled.

Blue Bird operates flights to Taba from Athens and back from Tuesday 3 March.

Tus Air will operate flights to Taba from Larnaca and Athens and back from Tuesday 3 March.

Air Haifa is working to organize the return of its passengers from Larnaca, Paphos, Athens and Sofia.

El Al Airlines did not receive security clearance to organize flights to Taba.

The Taba border crossing operates 24 hours a day. There is a bus from here to Eilat central bus station.

Hungarian low-cost airline Wizz Air has announced a sharp increase in the number of flights to Sharm a-Sheikh in the south of the Sinai Peninsula: from 3 to 10 per week from Budapest, from 11 to 18 per week from Rome, from 4 to 8 from Luton, from 6 to 11 from Milan, and will also begin operating 5 flights per week from Bucharest and 3 from Sofia.

From Sharm a-Sheikh to the Israeli border can be reached in 6-7 hours by bus or 3 hours by taxi.
