In action on container ships, oil tankers, LNG carriers or cable ships, between 50 and 100 sailors of French nationality are trapped in the war in the Middle East, living in uncertainty and the anxiety of becoming a target.
Within range of missiles or explosive drones, they remain stuck on boats which can no longer cross the Strait of Hormuz, a narrow arm of the sea taking its name from the small island located on its Iranian shore and which allows passage from the Persian Gulf to the Gulf of Oman. Due to the threat from the mullahs’ regime, this route is de facto closed to maritime traffic.
