Sogin, registrations open for ‘Open Gate 2026’

Starting Monday 16 March on www.sogin.it registrations to participate in the fifth edition of “Open Gate”, the initiative with which the Sogin Group will open the doors of the four nuclear power plants Italian companies being discontinued.

Registration, exclusively online, will close on Sunday 26 April and while places are full.

The power plants

The event involves the Trino power plants (Vercelli)which achieved the world record for operation at full power during the exercise, Caorso (Piacenza)the largest in our country, Latinaat the time of its start-up the most powerful power plant in Europe, and Garigliano (Caserta)with the characteristic “white sphere” that encloses the reactor, an Italian architectural heritage.

Two visit routes are planned, “controlled area” and “industrial area”, for the Trino, Caorso and Garigliano power plants, while only one route is planned for Latina: “industrial area”. Even minors aged six years and older can access the “industrial area” if accompanied.

The symbolic places

During the tours, which last approximately two hours, the technicians of Sogin and its subsidiary Nucleco will accompany visitors to discover places that are symbols of the industrial and nuclear history of our country.

Participants will be able to see with their own eyes how they progress decommissioning works in the four power plants and will have the opportunity to live a unique and highly educational experience. The initiative will also be an opportunity to explore the topic of the National Radioactive Waste Repository, a structure where all this waste can be disposed of, including that produced every day by medicine, industry and research.

Reservations

To guarantee the widest participation, each person will be able to book for a single day and a single visit route, choosing from the different shifts available from morning to late afternoon. When registering, you will be asked to enter your personal data and upload an identity document.

The event will also be reported on Instagram via the opengate_sogin profile, hashtag #opengate2026, with dedicated content, real-time updates and stories from participants.
