IATA calls on Israel to declare an aviation emergency

The International Air Transport Association (IATA) has appealed to Israeli Transport Minister Miri Regev with a demand to use her powers and declare a “special regime in the field of air travel” in connection with the war with Iran, Hadashot 13 news service reports.

Under normal circumstances, the airline is required by law to pay for a hotel when a flight is canceled and to provide an alternative flight.

However, according to the amendment approved by the Knesset Economic Committee in May last year, with the introduction of a “special regime in the field of air travel”, companies are only required to pay for two nights of accommodation and are not required to provide a replacement flight, but only to refund the cost of a canceled ticket.
