Elon Musk wants to build a city on the Moon before Mars

THE SPACE COMPANY Founder of SpaceX Elon Musk says his company is focusing on building a “self-growing city” on the Moon.

For years, Musk has talked about his company’s goals to build a human settlement on the planet Mars. He says in his publication message service in Xthat SpaceX’s goal is still to build a city on Mars, but “securing the future of civilization” is a priority for the company and the Moon is a faster solution.

Building a city on the Moon could take less than ten years, while a similar construction project on Mars would take more than 20 years, he writes.

The Wall Street Journal news last Friday, SpaceX put the Mars flight planned for this year on hold.

Last year, Musk announced that the company aims to land an unmanned spacecraft on Mars this year. According to WSJ sources, the task would have been postponed to 2027.

SpaceX applied a week ago to the US Communications Authority for permission to launch a network of one million satellites into orbit. According to Musk, the goal is to build ones that run on solar panels data centers into space.
