Houses for the ultra-Orthodox with 2,000 apartments will be built in Ashdod

The Ministry of Construction is promoting a new development program in Ashdod: a new area of approximately 2,000 housing units will be adapted to the needs of the ultra-religious population. The project will be integrated into the Gdot HaNachal development program in the Kiryat Halutzim area.

The program provides for restrictions on building heights, extensive public areas for educational institutions and synagogues, as well as adaptation of public space for large families.

In total, about 7,000 housing units are planned for the Kiryat Halutzim area, of which about 5,000 are subject to longer procedural processes. The 2,000 units that were approved on Wednesday evening are available for immediate planning and it has been decided to move them forward in parallel so as not to delay their sale.

The program will be published for public comments and objections before further procedures for its final approval begin.
