Amazon reported problems with its cloud infrastructure in Bahrain “due to drone activity”

According to Amazon, work is underway to move customers to alternative AWS regions while restoration efforts continue.

However, the scale of the violations and the time frame for full restoration of the service are not specified. It is also not clear whether the “drone activity” affected the same data center as in early March, or whether it is something else (there are a total of three AWS data centers in Bahrain).

Recall that on March 2, Amazon reported a communications outage at one of its data centers in the United Arab Emirates after a fire at the facility as a result of the fall of an “unidentified object.” Only the next 24 hours did the company admit that Iranian attacks had caused significant damage to the company’s three data centers in the United Arab Emirates and Bahrain.

In the UAE, two of the company’s facilities received direct hits, and in Bahrain, a drone attack near one of the facilities led to physical damage to the infrastructure. The company said at the time that the impacts caused structural damage, disrupted power to data centers and required firefighting efforts, leading to additional water damage.
