New Boeing 787s allowed to carry more passengers and luggage

The US Federal Aviation Administration has authorized an increase in the maximum take-off weight of the new Boeing 787-9 and 787-10 aircraft by an additional three and five tons.

This will allow airlines to carry more passengers and cargo, or increase the flight range (by 550 and 780 km, respectively).

The permit applies to aircraft built after December 2025. The first airline that will be able to use it is New Zealand’s Air New Zealand.
