VPBank wants to become the first bank to exceed 100,000 billion in charter capital

The above plan was announced by Vietnam Prosperity Bank (VPBank) in documents prepared for its annual meeting, taking place on April 22. Currently, this bank’s charter capital reaches 79,339 billion VND, ranking third in the industry.

If the issuance of additional shares is approved and takes place successfully, VPBank will become the first unit with capital of over 100,000 billion VND, surpassing state-owned and private banks such as MB, Techcombank or ACB.

In addition to stock bonuses, VPBank will pay cash dividends at a rate of 5%, in the second or third quarter of this year, meaning they may have to spend more than 4,000 billion VND for this.

Issuing additional shares helps banks improve financial capacity, improve capital adequacy ratio (CAR), and expand credit scale without the pressure of paying interest like debt. However, an increased supply of shares on the stock market can cause stock prices to decrease in the short term.

In 2026, VPBank continues to set a profit target of increasing 35%, to VND 41,323 billion. They are also the first bank to plan a profit of over 40,000 billion VND this year.

To complete this year’s goals, VPBank leaders allocate tasks to each member unit. Accordingly, the parent bank’s profit is expected to increase by 30%. VPBankS and OPES are assigned to increase profits by over 40%, while this target of FE Credit strives to double last year.

Last year, VPBank recorded 30,624 billion VND in pre-tax profit, 53% higher than 2024. This is its own record profit and ranked 6th in the industry.

As of December 31, 2025, VPBank’s total assets reached 1.26 million billion VND, an increase of 36% in one year. The bank lent customers nearly 944,000 billion VND. The consolidated bad debt (NPL) ratio according to Circular 31 decreased to below 3%.
