PS5 and PS5 Pro sold for 100 euros more: Sony increases the price of its PlayStation consoles around the world

This is the second increase in a year. Japanese entertainment giant Sony announced on Friday March 27 a global increase in the price of its various PlayStation 5 (PS5) models.

“Given the continued pressures weighing on the global economy, we have made the decision to increase the prices of the PS5, the PS5 Pro and the PlayStation Portal” worldwide “from April 2,” explains the group in a post published on the PlayStation blog.

In Europe, the consoles will be sold 100 euros more, or respectively 599.99 and 649.99 euros for the digital version and the version with player, and 899.99 euros for the Pro version of the PS5, more powerful. The PlayStation 5 is one of the best-selling consoles on the market.

The PlayStation Portal, an accessory in the form of a controller and equipped with a screen for playing games remotely via an Internet connection, will be sold for 30 euros more, at 249.99 euros.

In April 2025, Sony had already announced an increase in the price of several models of its PlayStation 5 video game console in certain markets, including Europe, due to global economic conditions deemed “difficult”. The price of the PS5 digital edition had increased by more than 10% in Europe, the United Kingdom and Australia. The price of the PlayStation Pro had not been changed.

This price increase was decided as customs duties imposed by US President Donald Trump destabilized global markets and threatened to disrupt the production chains of the electronics industry in Asia.
