Oracle fired thousands of employees worldwide via email

The exact number of layoffs has not been published, but current estimates indicate that 20,000 to 30,000 employees in the US, India and other regions received dismissal letters via email.

The letter, sent simultaneously to all layoffs without a phone call, without a meeting, and without any advance notice from supervisors or HR, informed employees that their position had been eliminated as part of a major reorganization, that today was their last day of work, and access to corporate systems was immediately blocked.

At the same time, publications appeared on the Blind network claiming that Oracle recently installed tracking software on corporate Mac computers that could record all actions on the device. Among those who were laid off, warnings were issued not to copy files or code before handing over the equipment.

The layoffs are directly related to Oracle’s aggressive expansion into artificial intelligence infrastructure. Investment bank TD Cowen estimates that the workforce reductions should free up $8 billion to $10 billion in cash flow that the company urgently needs to build large-scale data centers for AI.
