“15 cents less on diesel”: prices at the pump will fall… but less quickly than they rose

“When world prices fall, pump prices must fall, as quickly as they have risen. » The warning is signed Sébastien Lecornu. A few hours after Donald Trump’s conference announcing a 15-day truce with Iran and the unblocking of the Strait of Hormuz, the Prime Minister urged fuel distributors to immediately pass on the drop in oil prices to prices at the pump. Then insisted in the Assembly during the question session to the government, setting a deadline of “the end of the weekend, the beginning of next week”.

This Wednesday midday, a barrel of Brent was listed at 94 dollars (80 euros) compared to 110 dollars the previous evening. “It is above all the price of the finished product in Rotterdam that we must look at, particularly because we are very dependent on imported diesel,” underlines Francis Pousse, national president of the fuel distributors branch of the professional union Mobilians.
