Nepalese caregivers who were promised jobs in Israel end up in Ramallah

Nepal’s Katmandu Post tells the story of a 28-year-old woman who flew to Israel to work as a caregiver on January 1, 2026, and ended up working for a wealthy family in Ramallah without a passport and no way to return home.

“My own friend from Tanahun lured me into a trap. She also works there as a domestic worker and receives $400 commission for each person recruited. She brought many girls there,” the woman said.

According to her, she had a ticket to Israel, but the visa was only for Oman. Exactly how she was allowed to board the flight without an Israeli visa remains unclear. From the Israeli airport she was taken by car at night straight to the Palestinian Authority.

The family she works for is wealthy: four children, four drivers and six security guards. Working day – more than 12 hours: childcare, washing floors, dishes, cleaning cars. Salary – $400 per month, working day from 7:30 to midnight. Her passport was confiscated. To return home, they demand 15 thousand dollars.

The Nepalese Embassy in Israel confirms the presence of Nepalese citizens in the Palestinian Authority requesting assistance in evacuation and is holding consultations with Israeli authorities.
