The Knesset allowed the Petah Tikva mayor’s office to use technology to combat noisy drivers

The Knesset Committee on Justice and Judiciary has approved a decree allowing the municipality of Petah Tikva to begin using a new noise pollution monitoring system to prosecute vehicle drivers.

After the publication of the decree in the Reshumot bulletin, municipal inspectors will be able, based on the readings of the Noize system installed at major city intersections, to issue fines for violations such as excessive use of the horn, driving without a muffler, etc., creating noise that exceeds the permitted levels .

The fine, depending on the type of violation, will be up to 730 shekels.

In addition to drivers, the decree makes it possible to tighten the fight against noise pollution in homes and businesses.
