On April 10, at the Tzur reservoir, Xfloat introduced the first floating solar panel system (Floating PV), which will provide electricity to the Golan Heights Water Association.
The technology used significantly increases the efficiency of solar panels through natural cooling and tracking the movement of the sun. Xfloat systems are resistant to wind and waves.
The Tzur reservoir system is the first commercial implementation of this technology in Israel. In the future, such a system will provide electricity to kibbutz Nakhsholim (south of Haifa) and can be used to supply power to other settlements near which there are reservoirs.
A significant stake in Xfloat is owned by Synergy (29.5%), which is engaged in renewable energy sources.
