IMF: Qatar shows great resilience in the face of global uncertainty

The International Monetary Fund said on Friday: “Qatar continues to show great resilience in the face of global uncertainty and geopolitical tension.”

He continued in a statement: “The conflict between Israel and Gaza did not have any tangible impact on Qatar, and the tension in the Red Sea did not affect Qatar’s exports of liquefied natural gas except for a temporary period, due to its diversion.”

He added, “Economic growth will slow down in the near term to reach its normal rates after hosting the FIFA World Cup in Qatar.”

He said: “The medium-term prospects appear more positive, as average growth is expected to rise to about 4.5%, driven by the significant expansion in liquefied natural gas production.” (Reuters)
