Toyota released two inspection campaigns on Friday, the first related to the safety and assistance system (TSS) called Toyota Safety Sense, and the second to the front and rear view cameras.

The TSS system inspection concerns Toyota’s Corolla Cross and bZ4X models manufactured between August 2020 and May 2024, as well as Lexus’ NX models. There are approximately 2,650 cars in Finland.

Toyota says that the software of the forward-looking camera of the safety and assistance systems of the models called for inspection may crash in certain situations.

“In this case, upon restarting, the camera may not be available, and the system will not work as intended,” says Toyota in its press release.

The error is fixed by updating the camera software.

Toyota’s bZ4X is the company’s long-awaited, first electric car model. It has received criticism in media driving tests for its “sadly” slow charging and “miserably” limited range.

How– and the inspection of reversing cameras includes Toyota’s Prius, Mirai, Corolla Cross and bZ4X models and Lexus RX, NX, UX, ES and RZ models manufactured between November 2022 and September 2023. There are about 240 such cars in Finland.

According to Toyota, in a possible problem situation, moisture may get into the front or rear camera belonging to the 360 ​​camera system or the reversing camera system of the models. Moisture may cause the camera to malfunction.

Toyota inspects the cameras and replaces them with improved versions if necessary.

Toyota’s it is not known that the fall of the forward-looking camera or malfunctions in the front and reverse cameras would have caused problems, accidents or dangerous situations.

Inspection campaigns and related repairs are free of charge for the customer.
