Due to a clerical error in the documents, buyers of “Housing for new settlers” in Ashkelon paid an extra 10%

The Land Authority’s tender committee has ruled that there was a typo in the tender documents for the construction of 2,526 apartments in Ashkelon, published in 2018.

As a result of a clerical error, apartment buyers paid 10% more than they should have in the “Housing for New Residents” lottery. In some cases, we are talking about an amount of 150 thousand shekels.

The reason for such a significant difference in prices is an error in setting the timing and volume of linking the cost of an apartment to the cost index of construction work, which in the “Housing for New Resident” program differs from the standard ones.

At the moment, the commission’s decision applied to the Peretz Bonei HaNegev company, which built 180 apartments in Ashkelon, of which 126 were within the framework of “Housing for New Residents”, but it is obvious that it will apply to other companies.

The commission ruled that the company had acted in bad faith because it hid an obvious error in documentation and only disclosed it five years later, after customers had complained, The Marker reported.
