Liiri as temporary CEO

A deputy CEO has been appointed as the temporary CEO of OmaSp Sarianna Liiri. He has worked in OmaSp’s management team since 2015 and as CFO since 2018.

Oma Säästöpankki has been swimming in the middle of a deep crisis. There have been several upheavals and crises.

Ossa considers that, at the moment, the most serious of the various issues seems to be the action against the instructions.

“This is related to the fact that on April 16, we issued a negative profit warning due to ambiguities related to the formation of customer entities. After this, at Oma Säästöpanki, we have done a very detailed investigation,” Ossa said.

According to him, the investigation work is currently very advanced, but it is still partially in progress. Ossa stated that a negative profit warning has been issued based on this, and the write-down estimate was 19.5 million euros.

“This has progressed in such a way that today an investigation request has been filed against the company’s manager, and the investigation request has naturally been filed with the police. At the moment, it is in the possession of the police, and is being investigated,” Ossa stated.

Ossa went through the bank’s situation at the press conference anyway.

Ossa stated that Oma Säästöpankki has failed in risk management, which is a matter of fundamental quality in banking business.

“In this regard, it can be stated that the bank’s internal activities have been insufficient and activities contrary to the instructions have not been caught in the control in sufficient time,” Ossa said.

According to him, unfortunately, Oma Säästöpankki’s organizational structure has enabled activities that go against the guidelines without the opportunity to question it.

OmaSp’s board will start the application process for a new CEO immediately.

On Wednesday, Oma Säästöpankki’s share price ended with a decrease of 6.55 percent.

The bank also said that it had decided on the composition of the shareholders’ nomination committee and the task and composition of the audit committee.
