Lebanon calls for boycott of Pepsi: new caps look like Israeli flag

On social networks, bloggers from Lebanon and Turkey began a large-scale campaign calling for a boycott of a number of international companies that allegedly provide assistance to Israel. In Lebanon, users are calling for a boycott of Pepsi because the drink’s new glass bottle caps are blue and white, reminiscent of the colors of the Israeli flag.

Previously, the bottle caps featured the usual company logo with wavy stripes of red, white and blue; the new caps feature a white stripe in a circle between two blue ones, and “Pepsi” is written on it in blue. This was enough to launch an active campaign calling for a boycott of the concern’s products.

Various videos of anti-Semitic and anti-Israel content, usually created using artificial intelligence, are posted on social networks, and they claim that Pepsi has donated a billion dollars to Israel, which means that the purchase of its products is “financing the genocide in Gaza.”

It is worth noting that the Pepsi company itself did not change the logo, and the change in the design on the cap was the decision of the SMLC company, which produces Pepsi drinks in Lebanon, while the same logo remains on the bottle itself. A complaint about the “pro-Israel” caps was even filed with the Beirut prosecutor’s office.
