Coca-Cola Cherry cans recalled due to banned toxic component

The material used to make the can in question. The Coca-Cola brand is recalling a batch of cans of its cherry-flavored drink “Cherry,” Rappel Conso reported on Friday, June 28.

This recall is not linked to the quality of the drink, but to a problem in the composition of the resin can. “The interior lining of the phenoxy resin can is produced from Bisphenol A,” explains Rappel Conso. However, the use of this component has been prohibited in France since 2012 for the packaging of products sold in the country which come into contact with food.

The cans concerned were imported into France by the distributor B&M. They bear the barcode 5449000195364 and are part of lot No. 08/02/2025 L09B. These are 33 cl cans to keep in the refrigerator, sold throughout France. The dates of marketing and withdrawal from sale have not been specified.

In November, a major recall procedure took place in Croatia: the Croatian General Inspectorate ordered the American soda company to recall some of its products, after several cases of poisoning were reported in three cities in the country. “In the interest of public health and in order to protect people’s health, due to suspicions about food safety”, it also banned it from distributing them “temporarily”.
