SICT will complete 417 roads with an investment of 19 billion pesos

The Ministry of Infrastructure, Communications and Transportation (SICT) reported that, with an investment of almost 19 billion pesos, it will complete 417 roads totaling more than 4 thousand kilometers, a distance equivalent to that between Chetumal, Quintana Roo, and Tijuana, Baja California.

The agency highlighted that the program, one of the most important of the Mexican government, began in Oaxaca and was extended to 10 entities with greater social and economic backwardness, which will benefit 2 million people and generate more than 70 thousand jobs.

To date, SICT indicated in a statement, the Labor Roads Program is 84 percent complete, after completing the construction of 319 roads totaling 3,515 kilometers, where 17,518 million pesos have been invested.

The states where these works have already been completed are Chihuahua, Tlaxcala, Puebla and Hidalgo. Among the completed roads are those of Santa Catarina-Santa Ana, San Juan del Río and San Miguel Peras, in Oaxaca; La Victoria-Igualapa, in Guerrero, and Huajicori-San Andrés Milpillas, in Nayarit.

Currently, the construction of 98 roads with a total length of 624 kilometers and an investment of 1,404 million pesos is underway.

According to SICT, during this administration, resources will have been transferred directly to 296 municipalities participating in the program, which, through community assemblies, organize their own committees and the roads are built with local labor.

The works are carried out with hydraulic concrete with a thickness of 20 centimeters and a crown width of 7 meters, and include drainage works. SICT, together with the National Institute of Indigenous Peoples, provides technical advice to each of the communities.
