“This summer is going to be a great vintage.” This Friday, July 5, the Montparnasse train station (14th arrondissement) in Paris is packed with people. It is the first weekend of holiday departures and the atmosphere is festive among travelers. On the SNCF side, eyes are fixed on the evolution of the figures because these two days will allow the next sales curve to be outlined. “In total this weekend, more than a million passengers are expected on the entire railway company network,” says Alain Krakovitch, the head of TGV and Intercités.

With a sales level slightly higher than last year (2%), SNCF is breaking records. The summer promises to be “atypical” due to the 2024 Olympic Games. The railway company is also putting 400,000 additional tickets on sale, a colossal number of seats “that SNCF has never offered”, Mr. Krakovitch rejoices.
