Scandal overlooking military cemetery: Elite tower approved for construction near Mount Herzl

The Jerusalem Municipal Planning and Construction Committee approved on Wednesday, July 10, a plan to build a luxury 40-story skyscraper in close proximity to the military cemetery on Mount Herzl.

The commission meeting, which was attended by the families of the deceased servicemen who opposed the project, was accompanied by a scandal.

When discussing the issue of building balconies in the tower for the holiday tents (for the holiday of Sukkot), one of the members of the municipal council asked whether the discussion of this issue was more important for the municipality than the discussion of the 200 protests filed by families, to which he received an affirmative answer from another representative of the municipal council.

The municipal opposition has announced that it intends to challenge the approval of the tower’s construction.
