First home mortgages cost less in June

A breath of fresh air for those who want to buy a house and need to take out a mortgage. In June, the average rate on new transactions for the purchase of homes fell to 3.56%, compared to 3.61% in May 2024 and 4.42% in December 2023. This was reported by ABI in its monthly report. Bank credit is also less expensive for businesses. The average rate on new financing transactions for businesses fell to 5.25% compared to 5.38% in May 2024 and 5.45% in December 2023. The average rate on total loans (therefore signed over the years) fell to 4.77% from 4.80% in the previous month.

And the monthly Abi report also highlights how June marks a slowdown in the contraction of loans to families and businesses. “The decline in credit volumes – it says – is a consequence of the slowdown in economic growth which contributes to depressing the demand for loans: in June, loans to businesses and families fell by 1.7% compared to a year earlier, slowing down compared to the decline recorded in May (-2.1%) when loans to businesses had fallen by 3.1% and those to families by 1.1%”.
