General Motors lays off 1,000 people, including in Herzliya

American automobile manufacturer General Motors has announced plans to cut about 1,000 jobs, representing 1.3% of the corporation’s total workforce.

The bulk of the layoffs (about 600 people) will come from GM’s plant in Michigan, but The Marker reports that several dozen people will also be laid off at the company’s R&D center in Israel, located in Herzliya.

The Israeli center, which employs about 800 people, was established in 2008 and is developing software for the concern’s vehicles and driver assistance technologies.
