Apple will allow users to remove App Store

American technology company Apple will allow users in Europe to remove their own pre-installed apps. In doing so, it wants to comply with the European DMA legislation, the digital markets act.

Users will now be able to delete the App Store, as well as the Safari search engine, and more easily choose another internet browser.

Since the DMA legislation came into effect earlier this year, the European Commission and Apple have been at loggerheads. Apple risked a fine of up to 10 percent of its global turnover, some 30 billion euros, or even 20 percent for repeated infringements.

Apple owes much of its success to its own ecosystem, which forces users to use its own apps.
