“We cross-reference information”: how the CAF of Isère removes benefits from drug traffickers

The hunt for drug traffickers is being carried out in the files of the Family Allowance Fund. This initiative carried out in Isère is a first in France. An agreement signed in December 2020 made it possible to establish a collaboration between the Grenoble public prosecutor’s office and the Isère Family Allowance Fund to punish any “dealer” convicted by the courts for their illicit activity.

Thanks to the sharing of information, this unprecedented system supported and set up by the Grenoble public prosecutor Éric Vaillant and the director of the departmental CAF Florence Devynck has to date made it possible to remove or reduce the rights to social benefits (family allowances, RSA, activity bonus, housing assistance, etc.) of 55 “dealers”. Theoretical reason given: failure to declare income received illegally.
