Escena Miriñaque, National Prize for Performing Arts for Children and Youth 2024

Crinoline scene was awarded this Thursday with the National Prize for Performing Arts for Children and Youth for 2024. This award, awarded annually by the Ministry of Culture through the National Institute of Performing Arts and Music (INAEM), is endowed with 30,000 euros.

The jury has agreed to award this award to Escena Miriñaque SL for its show tÁ (2023), which stands out “for its quality and innovative contribution to performing arts aimed at early childhood“, according to the jury.

He also stressed that “the show, with great simplicity, fuses various performing arts disciplines, offering an aesthetic and artistic experience that connects with all audiences; Likewise, it has been very well received by the specialist sector.”

The minutes also record the “excellence” of the tÁ performers, their gestural work and their ability to move. The jury also highlighted that the company has articulated “an important network at local, national and international level that includes production, exhibition, mediation and training in Performing Arts aimed at a family audience, with special attention to children and young people.”

The National Prize for Performing Arts for Children and Youth rewards the meritorious work of a person or entity in the field of performing arts for children and youth audiences, preferably demonstrated through a work or performance made public or performed during the year 2023.

In previous editions, the award has been given to outstanding companies and personalities, among others, Los Titiriteros de Binéfar (2009), Aracaladanza (2010), La Rous Teatro (2011), Teatro Paraíso (2012), Máquina Teatral Teloncillo SL (2013), the Títeres, etcétera Company (2014), the Ultramarinos de Lucas Company (2015), María José Frías Arevalillo (2016), Pupaclown (2017), the Marie de Jongh company (2018), the playwright Itziar Pascual (2019), the La Baldufa company (2020), the Segovia International Puppet Festival, Titirimundi (2021) and the FIET, the Fira de Teatre Infantil i Juvenil de les Illes Balears (2022) and L’Horta Teatre (2023).

PERFORMING ARTS FOR CHILDREN

Crinoline scene It is an independent and comprehensive performing arts project specializing in childhood, created in 2001 and led by Noelia Fernández and Esther Velategui.

In In 2006, the La Miriñaque Space was inauguratedbased in Santander (Cantabria), which has established itself as a reference centre for the region with a stable, high-quality cultural programme and content with a clear social focus, paying special attention to generating new audiences, as well as supporting new creators through its artistic residencies.

In addition, for twenty-three years, the company has been developing a training programme in Performing Arts that includes students from the age of 4 to adulthood, with different courses and disciplines. The company has also promoted its own festivals such as Indifest, the independent theatre and dance festival of the city of Santander, and Meeting Baby.

The company has also been running a programme of school campaigns since 2009, promoting access to culture for spectators in early childhood and primary education. Escena Miriñaque has promoted several cultural initiatives in recent years, such as Proyecto Pequeña Ciudadanía (Small Citizenship Project) – aimed at modernising and mobilising the creation and exhibition of performing arts in early childhood – and Residencia La Lanzadera (The Lanzadera Residence) – which has brought young artists under 30 years of age closer to creation for early childhood.

Currently, maintains five shows in its repertoire for children that go on an annual tour of around 80 performances with national and international projectionHer creations have been recognized with two MAX awards, in 2007 and 2013; the second National Award for stage directors and the FETEN Award, among others.
