Actor Chad McQueen, son of American screen legend Steve McQueen, died Wednesday at age 63. He had been suffering from organ failure since a bad fall in 2020, a close friend told The Hollywood Reporter, which led to his death.
His children, Chase and Madison, spoke out in an Instagram post on Thursday, paying tribute to the “remarkable journey” of a “loving father” and “his unwavering commitment to their mother, who truly exemplified a life filled with love and devotion.”

Chad McQueen was born on December 28, 1960 in Los Angeles, California. He gained recognition for his role as “Dutch” alongside “Daniel Larusso” (Ralph Macchio) in the “Karate Kid” films, released in the 1980s. The world of cinema soon opened up to him: he starred in “Manhunt” in 1992 and “The Thin Red Line” in 1996, among many other films.
Like his father, Steve McQueen, the actor was also passionate about cars since the age of 10. In 2010, he founded McQueen Racing, his company building racing cars and motorcycles.
“He passed on his passion and that of our grandfather to us. As a family, we must move through this difficult time and we ask that you respect our grief as we celebrate his incredible journey,” his children added in the statement.
