Giulia Arnoldi is the winner of the 29th edition of Campiello Giovani

Young People’s Field
the competition reserved for young people between 15 and 21 years old organised by the Il Campiello Foundation – Confindustria Veneto.

Giulia Arnoldi, 18 years old from Dalmine (BG),won the prize with the racconto “Just before the last chord” scelto dalla Jury of Literary Menchaired by Walter Veltroni, among the five stories reached the final. The winner was announced byEnrico CarraroPresident of the Il Campiello Foundation and of Confindustria Veneto,Mariacristina GribaudiPresident of the Management Committee of the Campiello Prize and fromCristina CipicciaCommercial Director of Retail Veneto Est and Friuli-Venezia Giulia Intesa Sanpaolo, Exclusive Partner of Campiello Giovani.

Below is the Jury’s motivation:

The jury of the literary scholars first of all notes an appreciable improvement in the average quality of the writing of all the shortlisted stories of the Campiello giovani compared to recent years, and applauds the excellent work of selection and care promoted by the jury that selected the stories. The winning text is appena prima dell’ultimo tasto, by Giulia Arnoldi, who in a few pages expertly orchestrates a Crescendo of narrative tension anchored to a war story and told through a narrative voice that is also an epistolary voice. It unfolds, letter after letter, in a Diminuendo that leads to death, provoking an unfortunately current reflection on the implacable violence of war.

Gli Other finalistsof this edition of theYoung People’s Field erano: Sofia Aleandri21 years old from Monterotondo (RM), with the story “The last August”; Daniele Camagna21 years old from Rocca Sinibalda (RI), with the story “Vallecupola”; Francis Maisto21 years old from Lodi (LO), with the story “Momijigari – In the shadow of the black pine”; Philip Triolo22 years old from Salemi (TP), with the story“The child who didn’t want to live in hell anymore.”

The winner was announced on Friday, September 20th during the Proclamation Ceremony“Notes and Words”in which the musical compositions that emerged from the collaboration between the young finalists and some students of the music institute were presented, accompanied by the performances of theDaghilev Dance School. The event, directed byDavid Stefanatowas presented byFederico Basso and Davide Paniateand also saw acontribution musical di Franco Mussida.

During the evening,Roberto Vecchioni addressed a message to young people, emphasizing the importance of the word and its conscious use. Furthermore, they participatedMattia Contiwinner of the Campiello Giovani in 2011, andSonia Aggiosemi-finalist in 2018 and candidate for the 2024 Strega Prize.

Also speaking were:Gianpietro BeltottoPresident of the Veneto Theatre andDiego Tomasi, Director of the Consortium for the Protection of Conegliano Valdobbiadene Prosecco DOCG, with which it was developed“Plots of Lives”a project to enhance the UNESCO heritage hills in collaboration with the young writers of Campiello.

During the evening, the award was also given byRichard DiStefanoNational President of Young EntrepreneursSpecial mention from the Confindustria Youth Groupfor the best story that has dealt with thetheme of corporate cultureThe mention was attributed toSofia Aleandri, 21 years old, of Monterotondo (RM), for the story “The last August”.

Also during the ceremony,Cristina CipicciaCommercial Director of Retail Veneto Est and Friuli Venezia Giulia Intesa Sanpaolo, delivered thespecial recognition for social and environmental sustainabilityawarded by the Technical Committee of Campiello Giovani, to the story“Diary of Alfred Bosch” di Olaf Miller.

La Final evening of the Campiello Prize on Saturday 21st Septemberat the Gran Teatro La Fenice it will be the occasion to celebrate the winnerJulia Arnoldiwhich will be officially awarded byCristina BalboRegional Director Veneto West and Trentino Alto Adige Intesa Sanpaolo, Main Partner of the Campiello Prize and Exclusive Partner of the Campiello Giovani.

The winner of the Campiello Giovani will be awarded a study trip to a European country, while all finalists will receive a supply of books.
